5 Reels Slots: A Place in History. Some might assume that 5 reel slot machines first entered the wagering-game scene after their well-known 3 reel predecessors, the Liberty Bell.

This slot machine has 3 reels, each with 64 stops. The game picks 3 random numbers from 1 to 64, one for each reel, and maps them to a symbol on the corresponding reels. I designed a single-line version of this game in August 2008, when I was asked to speak to the Gaming Technologies Association, in Australia, on the topic of slot machine design.
